RESOLUTION NO. 4713
CLOSURE OF OPEN BURNING IN RAVALLI COUNTY
WHEREAS, the BOARD OF RAVALLI COUNTY COMMISSIONERS established a Ravalli County local fire season on February 4, 2025 per Resolution No. 4650; and
WHEREAS, fire danger in Ravalli County has been increasing and current forecasts predict hot and dry conditions in the area for the foreseeable future; and
WHEREAS, current hot and dry conditions warrant open burning restrictions; and
WHEREAS, the BOARD OF RAVALLI COUNTY COMMISSIONERS held a duly noticed public meeting on June 16 ,2025, in order to take public comment on the closure of open burning in Ravalli County; and
WHEREAS, the Ravalli County Firewarden recommends restricting open burning in the interest of public health and safety for the County of Ravalli.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the BOARD OF RAVALLI COUNTY COMMISSIONERS shall prohibit outdoor open burning in Ravalli County through the Ravalli County Burn Permit System and closure of the Burn Permit System is hereby effective June 30, 2025 at 12:01 am.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the use of fireworks on private unincorporated lands in Ravalli County continue to be allowed from June 24, 2025 through July 5, 2025; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that any fires or property damage directly or indirectly resulting from the use or discharge of fireworks may result in criminal and/or civil liability, subject to Montana law.
