RCDC Mission Statement

The mission of the Ravalli County Detention Center is to provide a safe and secure confinement and management of persons who have been placed into our custody. We aim to serve the citizens of Ravalli County to the best of our ability, utilizing every resource made available to us. 

The Ravalli County Detention Center works in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies, the courts, and the criminal justice system, and to ensure that individuals are present for court appearances and the court-imposed sentences are completed.

The Ravalli County Detention Center will confine persons in a responsible and humane manner that maintains self-dignity. The Ravalli County Detention Center will strive to ensure that individuals will leave the facility in no worse condition, physically or psychologically, than when they entered.

With the belief that change is always possible, the Ravalli County Detention Center will make opportunities available for inmates to become involved in community-based programs which strive to promote change, self-esteem and a positive approach to law-abiding lifestyles.

The Ravalli County Detention Center will provide a safe and positive work environment for its staff. It will operate in accordance with the statutes of the State of Montana and the Constitution of the United States of America.

A Policy and Procedure manual is maintained according to current State Statutes and Regulations, to establish facility guidelines for the safety of staff and inmates, and to ensure that the operation of the Ravalli County Detention Center does not violate individuals' Constitutional Rights.

The Detention Center Office is open Monday through Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

- Video Visitation must be initiated 20 minutes prior to the end of visitation hours.

- The Lobby Video Visitation Station is available at no cost, but users will need to create an account at http://www.ncic.com/, prior to use. There is a validation and password process.

- To Deposit Funds, Email, Text (SMS), and Video Visit from home, please create an account at NCIC Prepaid Communication Services.

**Misuse or abuse of the system will result in loss of privileges. All inmate communications are documented, recorded, reviewed for content, and can be used in a court of law. **

  • The above visitation times are strictly adhered to, with no extensions. 
  • Each visitor is limited to one 20-minute visit per day. 
  • Visitation is non-scheduled and will be conducted on a First Come - First Serve basis. 

There will be a sign-up sheet available in the lobby on visitation days only. If your chosen time slot is full, you can either chose to sign up for the next time slot and wait, or you can come back another time.

Money

The Detention Center will accept money orders, cashier's checks or cash. 

- Cash or card can be used to deposit funds into inmate accounts in the kiosk in the lobby.

- Money Orders and Cashier's Checks must be made payable to the inmate with your name and address on the money order or check. They can be mailed to the inmate or dropped off with the Detention Receptionist during business hours. 

- Family members or friends of an inmate are prohibited from depositing money to the account of ANOTHER inmate who is incarcerated at the Ravalli County Detention Center.

We offer inmate Commissary Deposits with credit or debit cards 24 hours/7 days a week through JailATM™.  You will need:

  • Your Credit or Debit Card
  • Inmate's Name and Facility location

Note: Transaction fees may apply.

- The maximum monthly amount allowed per inmate or cardholder is $750.00.


Commissary

Commissary is passed to the inmates no earlier than Thursday of each week. Inmates need to have their commissary orders placed by Sunday evening at lock down.

Incoming mail to the inmate must include a return address and will be refused if it contains any of the following: (Note: This list is not all inclusive)

  • Perfume, Aftershave, Cologne
  • Lipstick, Lip Gloss
  • Glitter ink
  • Any and all foreign substances
  • Inmate to inmate mail
  • Polaroid photos
  • Suggestive type material
  • Return Stamped Envelopes
